What If? Blog Fest

Here is my entry for Team Plot Twists in the What If? Blogfest.  Enjoy.

“You poisoned me.”

The woman she still thought of as the queen looked up from her monitor. “It was the only way we could wake you.”

“You tried to kill me.”

“I never meant to hurt you, Snow.”

“You tried to kill me three times.”

The woman who wasn't a queen scowled. “Yeah, you were stubborn like that.” She went back to studying the screen in front of her as intently as she had studied her reflection in the mirror in the Kingdom.

Snow studied the backs of her hands. She used to have such perfect, flawless skin, white as snow. It's where she got her name. Now her skin was sallow and sickly looking. Her hair was dry and listless, and her lips pale and lifeless. They should just call me Mud now.

“Good Morning, Snow.” It was her prince who had kissed her out of the darkness. He resembled the dwarves more than the tall handsome man he had been in the Kingdom. He even whistled a familiar tune as he went about his business. “Did you eat this morning?”

She shook her head no.

“You need to eat. We can't reease you until your strength is up.”

“It's disgusting.” What they tried to pass off as food here was nothing more than mush of varying shades of green. Snow thought of the apple, red and shiny, the last delicious thing she had tasted, and wished she had never woken up.

  11. Those princes can't always seem so amazing, once the honeymoon period is over! In the normal fairytales, we never get past the wedding day. I like this version.
