I Got Bored, and Instead of Writing I Redecorated

You'll notice that things look a little different around here. I signed up for David Powers King's Build Me a Blog-hop, and while looking for inspiration for my entry, I got carried away. I like it, but I wonder if the background is distracting.

What do you think? Too much? I suppose if I have to ask if it's too much, it probably is. Which, you know, is why I entered David's blog hop.

You'll also notice I added a real life picture of myself over there on the right. I guess that's what I look like. I never look the way I think I look in pictures. So, Howdy. Nice to finally meet you face to face.

  1. Hey Jennifer...so, honest answer. Cute picture, but definitely a little hard to read the blog now. Anyway you could use this pic as the background/border, but make the actual part you write on a light blue or something? Just an idea...

    Happy Holidays! :)

  2. Wow, Jennifer! I love the background and your title looks fabulous up there! So, start with your main colors: browns, cobalt blue and golds. These are a great combo. Then you look at your blue section where your posts are, it's a completely different shade of blue. I've never had a hard time reading light text on a dark background, but many say it's hard to read or hard on the eyes. What if you went with a light gold post background and dark brown text (maybe the color of the swirly branches)? You'll have to play with the "choose more colors" section in design, but I'm positive you can find something.

Sometimes revamping our "homes" is a good thing. And I adore your photo over there. It's good to finally meet ya. ;)

Otherwise, I LOVE it. It's cheery, warm & inviting, unique, and the glowing lights make me happy. :)

    1. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm terrible with colors.

I'm having a heck of a time getting the gold for the post background right, so I went with a deep brown that I think is a good match for the branches.

  3. Hey Jennifer! Good to put a face to a name! I definitely like the addition of the solid background for the text... way easier to read than how you first had it. I also like the blue tree-lantern background behind everything - I've never seen it before, so very unique. Great remodel!

    1. Thanks Jeannette.

The lantern tree really caught my eye and I couldn't resist it.
