More Book Covers

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about a site that posts pictures of Lousy Book Covers. Today, I want to point you in the direction of a Pinterest thingy (I don't do Pinterest. Are the boards? Like cork boards you might pin a favorite picture too?) devoted to some less brain searing book covers.
Obviously there is a huge difference in quality between the covers on these two sites. I’m guessing the good book covers are professional, or at least created by a writer whose day job is in graphic design, whereas the Lousy Book Covers were created by people who are hopefully better writers than they are designers.

No point to this at all, just wanted to give some balance.

Anyway, all this talk of book covers sent me on a mission to create my own covers. I have seen a few
people around creating their own covers not for actual distribution, but for inspiration. So I spent way
too much time putting these together:

This is the cover I made for Weaver. Much like the actual manuscript, it leaves much to be desired, but it has me pointed in the right direction.

This one is for a story – probably a novella – that I’m working on at this time. The title is just a
working title, something to put on the page, but I really like the image. Getting lots of inspiration from this one.

  1. Those, actually, look pretty good. Both are eye catching (no pun intended on the first cover) :)

    1. I'm sorry, I accidentally deleted your comment! :( Thanks for the comment and thanks for following.

  3. I love when book covers catch my eye!! THat's usually the first thing I notice about a book. Different pictures help me write better too.

    Great blog.
